We’ve payed homage to the classic 1955 Harry Belafonte version of this American Folk song while giving it a fresh take. The arrangement still carries the bones of Belafonte’s acoustic Vocal and Drum treatment with a distinct, Caribbean feel. Included are both ‘SATB’ and a simplified 2 part ‘Background Vocal’ accompaniment for the lead singer. The band kicks in with a definite modern Pan-Caribbean Jazz feel with hints of Soul, Latin, Soca and Calypso ending in a classic Swing! This chart is sure to please and will suit both jobbing bands and serious school ensembles alike.
